One of the foundation stones for West Hill’s reputation, ethos and success is its strong pastoral structure. It is essentially a traditional system which has developed over many years to become the strong, motivated and successful organisation responsible for the welfare of the boys at West Hill School.

Our pastoral system is organised in age groups Years 7 to 11. On entry to West Hill, every pupil is assigned to a Form which will, in most cases, be his Form for his entire stay at school. Each Form is led by a Form Tutor who should always be the first point of contact if there are any concerns, worries or other issues.

In each year group there are six Form Tutor Groups directed by a Head of Year and a designated member of the Senior Leadership Team. Each year group is situated in a particular area of the school to ensure a cohesive approach from the Head of Year and Form Tutors. Form Tutors and Heads of Year are also assisted by our Attendance Officer, Behaviour Manager and Learning Support Assistants when required.
