1 July 2022

As we approach the completion of this academic year, there is always a feeling akin to that at an end of chapter as boys move on but also as some staff move on and will not be here in September.  This year is no exception, as we will bid farewell to 5 colleagues. Miss Fowler, has secured a new post teaching languages in London. Mr Musiol, is retiring after more than a decade establishing the highly regarded and celebrated careers programme here at school.  Mrs Broadbent, is also retiring.  She joined us in 2005, building our Business Studies Department into the very popular and successful curriculum area of school that it is, as well as being a Head of Year.  Miss Jedd joined West Hill in 1984, and as well as being an outstanding Biology teacher has developed a notable reputation as Head of Year supporting many families over many years.

Finally, Mr Campbell, one of our longest ever serving teachers, having joined us in 1981.   He will be retiring this summer from his position as PE teacher.  He has played a pivotal role is establishing the sporting tradition we have at West Hill.  Recognised for his contribution not only locally – but also helping bring national recognition to our school, supporting boys to individual achievements, as well as a long list of team successes across many different sports.

There is a combined total of over 100 years of dedicated service to West Hill from this group. I am sure boys, past and present, as well as their families will wish to thank them and wish them well in the future.

Staff leaving is part of the natural cycle, there will be reflections on their time with us alongside recognition and celebrations of what they have done. There is also a touch of sadness, which is an indication of the affection from across the West Hill family, and a recognition of the dedication and commitment in supporting our boys over so many years.
