The process of mentoring is integral to what we do at West Hill.
All pupils in all years have a dedicated mentor who will meet with pupils at least three times a year to discuss their progress in school. Mentoring sessions take place within the school day and pupils are asked to reflect on their current progress and consider appropriate next steps. Whether mentoring takes place in a group or in one to one sessions, it provides the opportunity for pupils to engage with staff and consider how best to move forward at West Hill and beyond.
In Year 7, selected pupils may also be allocated a Peer Mentor to help them make a successful transition to the school.
In Year 11, Assertive Mentors work intensively with Year 11 pupils to ensure they realise their full academic potential.
