6 March 2016

Mother’s Day saw the Year 11 4 Peaks team at Dove Stone Reservoir completing a day’s Micro Navigation training in excellent, but challenging, weather conditions.  The day consisted of the team of 11  pupils  being divided into 3 groups with members taking it in turn to plan, brief and lead their group around the orienteering course using 1:60,000 & 1:50,000 maps.

On arrival at the checkpoint the other members had to work out where they were and give a 6 figure grid reference which was then checked against a GPS for accuracy.

After a short lunch break the team completed some confidence rope work in preparation for their Mountain Skills weekend in Snowdonia over the weekend of the 12 & 13 March 16.
