18 November 2021

November 18th should have been our Presentation Evening and the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2021. We are disappointed that we could not meet up in person, but please view the “Class of 2021” section on our website.

Exam Certificates and Award certificates will be posted out on Thursday 25th November. If you would prefer to collect these in person, these will be available from Reception on Monday 22nd, Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th November between 3.00pm and 4.00pm. If you are collecting on behalf of a pupil, written permission from that pupil will be required before they can be released.

Congratulations to the Class of 2021

Message from the Deputy Headteacher Mrs Wood

The lack of a Presentation Evening denies us, and you, the opportunity to celebrate your many achievements whilst at West Hill. 2021 has certainly been a year different to any other and, although we are all disappointed at the way we have had to say goodbye to you all, we are also very proud of the way you have coped with the challenges that have come your way. Your time at West Hill has seen you develop in to young men of whom we are justifiably proud. We hope that you reflect on your school days with fondness; on the friendships that you have made and the incredible achievements that each one of you has secured.

Message from the Chair Of Trustees Dr Martha Davies

This has again been a different end to the year than the boys would have traditionally had.  There may not have been the exams and the usual end to their time here at West Hill, but the efforts and achievements of the Class of 2021 must still be celebrated.

I think West Hill School is a special place. I am proud of the positive relations between the staff and the boys. A school is not just a building, but it is the people in it. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for their hard work in providing the best for our boys.

I have found on many occasions staff going above and beyond to help, support and encourage our boys. For the young men themselves I am sure, as you look back at your years at West Hill, there will be some members of staff who stand out for you. There will be some staff that you think very fondly of. There may be others who you may not have appreciated at the time but as you look back and reflect you will see that the staff just wanted the best for you and to see you reach your full potential.

If I can say one thing to you all it is that life is about opportunities. West Hill has offered you many and varied opportunities and many of you will have seen how this enriches and even changes your life. Don’t shy away from the opportunities that lie before you. Where you can, be brave, step outside your comfort zone and embrace those opportunities, as you never know where they may take you.

I wish you all the very best for the future, whatever that holds for you.

Message from the Headteacher Mr Owens

Boys - you move on from us as young men; you will go off in different directions and face many challenges in the future, you will encounter disappointments along the way, but by learning from these and keeping true to our ethos, you will enrich the lives of those around you and you will make a real difference whatever your future vocation.

These values that shape what we do will provide guidance in the future; they are secure and have been shared through West Hill generations past, present and still to come.  Your time at West Hill has provided you with a reservoir of memories to tap into and perhaps, most importantly, friendships and bonds that will sustain long into the future.  Savour those memories, but look forward and remember always- to aim high.

Message from Mrs Barton Head  of Year 11

Class of 2021, believe me when I say, this is not the way I hoped this evening would go. I was looking forward to us being gathered together again as a year group and celebrating all of your successes from the past 5 years as West Hill boys. I know this is a disappointment, however, it does not stop me from being able to congratulate each and every one of you for all of your achievements. Throughout your time at West Hill you have developed into kind, thoughtful, resilient young men, ready to take on the world. It has been a pleasure to be your Head of Year, I hope you are enjoying the path you have chosen since leaving us and continue to be successful in the future.
