At West Hill School we are committed to achieving our mission statement:

West Hill School aims to develop confident and ambitious young men, equipped with the skills and qualifications to thrive in a changing world.

Part of achieving our mission is understanding the importance of establishing effective working relationships with our parents and carers and guiding parents to support children’s learning.

As a school we are presently working towards achieving the Leading Parent Partnership Award.  This is a national award that will structure how we work in partnership with all parents and carers.   The Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) is structured around the framework below:

Support parents in their transition through or between schools

Include all groups of parents in supporting their children’s learning and developing their own learning

Take steps to ensure the school is welcoming

Provide clear and accessible guidance to help parents support their children’s learning and development

Provide clear guidance on the responsibilities of parents, school, pupils and share this information with parents as a key part of the induction process

Home-school links

Produce parent-friendly policies and establish home-school links

This award will help our school work in partnership with all our parents and carers.  Increasing parental participation in school life leads to improved pupil progress, punctuality, attendance and behaviour.  Adopting the framework will encourage parents to be more involved in their children’s learning; in turn leading to improved outcomes in all aspects of school life.

Achieving the ward will be challenging, but aspiring to it is a vital building block towards achieving two key elements of our vision statement:

Every boy will be an independent, committed and engaged learner.

Every stakeholder will feel valued and connected to our community.

You can support us in achieving this award by completing any surveys, questionnaires and evaluations of events at school.

Further information about the award can be found at:

Updates on our progress will be posted here and on our school Twitter feed.
