A selection of books available in the library

Our brand-new West Hill School library opened its doors to pupils for the very first time in September 2022.  The library opened with an initial collection of over two thousand brand new books.  The books have been selected by our students during student voice, recommended by our staff and specialist sellers of young-adult literature. We now have a varied collection of over 3,300 books.

Alongside the books, there are computers for study, a reading nook and study areas for both independent and group study.  Our bespoke literacy intervention and support programs take place in the library. We also take an active role in celebrating and promoting events throughout the year such as World Book Day, World Poetry Day, Non-Fiction November and National Literacy Month.

The reading nook

The library opens before and after school from 8.15am until 3.55pm (3.40pm Friday) and during all student breaktimes.  Our library is managed by the Resource Centre Coordinator, who is always on hand to support students with their literary choices and happy to take new book requests.

Students are also able to browse our online catalogue of books and reserve books from home using the library booking and reserving app.

We have student librarians on duty every day to support their peers in the loaning/returning of books, recommended reading and support with homework.
