Membership of the Board of Trustees

The Headteacher is seeking to appoint three individuals who have experience and skills at a senior level in any range of professional areas. We seek individuals who will enhance the quality of governance whilst also having a commitment to serve the local community, challenging and supporting West Hill to support our local community.

West Hill is a thriving school that succeeds in combining high quality academic education with an outstanding range of opportunities beyond the classroom. The school has a long-standing reputation within the community, and our community links continue to develop and strengthen as a result of ongoing work across the school and of the extensive community use of our facilities.

We value every individual and are committed to preparing young people for life beyond school, encouraging independence of thought, respect for others, creativity and a will to succeed.

As a Trustee, your contribution and commitment to the local community will help influence the lives of young people by contributing to the school’s continued journey and successes.

The Board of Trustees consists of Academy and Parent Trustees, from diverse backgrounds and has primary responsibility for the education, character and mission of the school and for overseeing its activities, including ensuring solvency and the safeguarding of its assets.  Its effectiveness is, in part, derived from it being properly representative, with a right balance and mix of skills and expertise in its Trustees. 

Suitable candidates will need to complete an enhanced DBS check and must not have worked for a local authority within the last four years.

The Full Board of Trustees meets three times each academic year and there is also a timetable of delegated subcommittees. Training will be provided as required.
