Students running at Sports Day

Sports Day 2023

Wednesday 5th July was West Hill Sports Day - 2023.

Boys took part in a number of sporting events from traditional field sports such as javelin, shot put, high jump, discus and long jump, to the track events that many of us watch on the television including the notorious, and very well-supported, team relay event.

The effort of the boys was evident not only from their faces but also the tumbles that took place in their efforts for glory.

School records were broken in two events - well done to Aiden Mee who smashed the Year 8 200m record with a superb time of 26.84 seconds, and to Harry Priest who also broke the 200m record, but in the Year 9 category. Harry achieved an impressive time of 26.66 seconds.

The sporting day was rounded up with the inter-form Tug of War, which is always great fun to watch; literally a case of last man standing!

Presentations followed where certificates were awarded to those who triumphed in their chosen sport, cheered on by their peers, school staff, and parents and carers.

Another successful Sports Day where the weather just about held out for us. For now, though, it's time to pass the baton over to next year's Sports Day in order to create more memories, and to see if more school records can be broken.

Well done on a great Sports Day, boys!
