Our curriculum leaders have identified specific learning habits that are required to be successful in each subject.  These are displayed in each teaching room, and below.

Every student's application of these learning habits is monitored in each of their subject areas. The learning habits indicate whether students are working and learning effectively, and if they are implementing the practices they need to do to succeed in each subject.

Learning habits are reported to parents and carers on assessment reports, and every student will receive a comment from each of their subject teachers based on the following descriptors:

Learning Habit Descriptors
Taking every opportunity to learn effectively.
Using most of the learning habits, most of the time.
Not consistently using the learning habits.
Rarely using the learning habits, urgent action required.

The top category is used to highlight those students who are trying their hardest at all times, doing everything expected of them and more.

Parents and carers should be pleased if all subjects are ‘Using most of the learning habits, most of the time’.

Achieving any ‘Taking every opportunity to learn effectively’ is a cause for celebration.

Where the picture isn’t as positive, we will allocate additional support and interventions. For example, reports, mentoring and study-skills groups.
